Just wow...

I have had the best two weeks in a very long time. I recently got a job with GE Access after having gone without a job for a month and I am making nearly three times as much as I was at my last job. I am currently hired as a temp but I've already been told a couple times that as soon as they legaly can they want to hire me which is in 5 weeks. Then I will get another pay increase and benefits. I only have to drive two miles to work and they are very flexable with schedules and am now working from 8:30 to 5:30 with an hour lunch. I realy enjoy the work right now and there is lots of room for advancement in the company. My current boss was a temp in the position i'm in now three years ago! I realy cant believe it, I make my rent in one weeks pay. The rest all is all for me. I am planning on as soon as possible traiding in my car and getting a new one because its realy begiing to break down. I get about 15 miles to the gallon i figured out right now and it has half the power it usto. Its time for a new car. I plan on gettting something gently used. I am just so overwelmed right now and keep thinking it cant be real. I'm currently in training right now and they told me just to dink around on the web for a little bit while they work on getting me the correct permissions so I can realy start working. Life is good!

Halloween

Halloween is definatly my favorite Holiday, it always has just because its unasuming. Its not pretending to be about something greater and you hear people on TV constantly blabbing about how were forgetting the real spirit of Haloween and getting lost in comercialism. Because Haloween is kinda whatever anyone makes of it. I'm persionaly of the giving out candy and decorating your home like a haunted house (even more of one as usual) and get a costume for yourself and go to a party or something. Its just a time of year I can let some of that kid wonder out because no one put any false face up that was later crushed. Hell I still would trick or treat with out feeling guilty or give candy to anyone no matter what there age that came trick or treating at my door. I love getting to dress up and let my imagination out and just cut loose and let out that childhood wonder that maby those ghost storys you heard when you were a kid were true. Part of the fun for halloween is curling up with a good horror novel or maby watching scarry on TV and just getting that sortof scared feeling deep in my chest. Pulling out that feeling I usto get as a kid when a strange shadow would cast itself through my window and into my room, imagining a boogy man standing outside stairing in. I guess it could be the adrenaline or something but its rare when something like that can get me and for some reason I relish it when I find it. And honestly I kinda feel it right now. I have to give thanks for this scare to Wallgreens. Yes your everyday mini stoore that sells perscritions and amost anything else, Including plug in pumpkins. I loved carving pumpkins and still do to this day, but im always depressed when they begin to wilt and die. So this year like many in my past I purchased a light up pumpkin I could put in my appartments front window, having lost my old one through many moves. But I gleefully brought this yellow monstrosity home and began the work of evening the hight of my desk through stacks of old college textbooks so that the pumpkin could rest on it and the ledge and not tip. I even plugged it to an unused lightswitch near my door so I could turn it off while leaving for the day. I turned the globe on and enjoyed the way it reflected in the screen back into my appartment and the creepy orange glow. I ran acrossed my appartment to turn all the lights off to see what I would be seeing on a midnight run to the restroom and as I flicked the lights off the pumpkin went dark. I turned the lights back on and it still remained dark. I played witht the lights for a few moments before turning them all back on then walked over to the switched the pumpkin was on and give it a few flips and still nothing. I decided maby the bulbe was loose in the casing and with all the lights on picked the pumpkin up and gave it a shake.
The appartment I live in is kindof old. the breaker box is probably twice my age and im just lucky most of the outlets in the place are grounded. I wouldnt have been suprised if the lights had gone out and the breaker snapped over but thats not what I got. Directly above me lay my Ceiling fan with four bulbs and in the kitchen and living room there were about four more bulbs, as well as the one i was giving a gentle shake in my hands. I remeber the flash as suddenly the room grew much brighter and all the sudden there we 9 distinctive popping sounds followed by a shower of sparks and broken glass as well and all ended with the blinding flash of the pumpkins light exploding as well. I cant say how far I jumped in all this but I distinctly remember the ground moving away from my feet and when i started the window was a lot closer infront of me. After recovereing from that shock and taking stock with my emergency flash light I unplugged the pumpkin and took a look at the bulbs in my appartment. The casualties are staggering, only the light in my bathroom and the one in my bedroom remain. Only three bulbs actualy burst, one above my head and another in my hand and one in the light fixture in my kitchen. I unfortunaly tonight have no extra bulbes but will be making a purchase tomorow before i head out I imagine. And as for the breaker? The master one appears to be the only one that flipped though there are no less than 8 breakers for the 1 bedroom appartment I live in. I plan on taking the pumpkin back tomorow as well for a new one but I do have to say, still sitting here in my darkened appartment I cant help but give the shaddows in the rooms that second glance I always gave as a child.

I'm honestly not sure what to say

I would love to put something witty and amusing in responce to finding and reading this article. But its just the sheer stupidity of this guy speeks for itself. This realy shows what the republican/conservative phelosophy is behind the scenes if this is what these people realy believe and feel a need to share with others. If you click on the picture it will take you to the original story and you can read information on the previous emails he sent out.

Welker blasted again for e-mail

State Rep. Jim Welker is once again drawing criticism for forwarding an e-mail in which black conservatives and religious leaders blame "black culture" for problems surrounding Hurricane Katrina.

The Loveland Republican forwarded an article to constituents titled "Black Culture is responsible for Hurricane Katrina woes."

The article from CNSNews .com is about an upcoming conference in Washington, D.C., sponsored by ministers and political conservatives.

It quotes them as saying black New Orleans residents rely too much on government, and, in the words of the Rev. Grant Storm, who is white, "When the government doesn't come and help them, frankly all they do is yap and complain."

Welker didn't write the article, but legislative leaders warned him in March to stop forwarding e-mails they said foster racism. Three months ago, Welker apologized on the House floor for forwarding a racially charged essay from a conservative black commentator who called Hurricane Katrina victims "welfare pampered" and "immoral."

On Wednesday, Welker made no apology for passing on the e-mail, saying it simply reflects conservative values, which encourage hurricane victims to pull themselves up by their own boot straps. He dismissed allegations he is a racist.

"I have black people who work for me," said Welker. "Some of my good friends are different colors."

Lawmakers expressed outrage and dismay at the recent e-mail, some accusing Welker of hiding racist attitudes behind black conservatives' controversial writings.

"These kinds of comments are heartless and hurtful," said House Speaker Andrew Romanoff.

Sen. Peter Groff, D-Denver, echoed those sentiments. "Only Jim Welker and God knows if he's a racist or not. But just because somebody says they're not racist, doesn't mean you're not a racist," he said.

House Minority Leader Mike May, R-Parker, said the GOP caucus neither shares nor condones Welker's views.

"It's not what my party is about," said May.

Scary Stuff

Racist extremists active in U.S. military
July 7, 2006 -- Under pressure to meet wartime manpower goals, the U.S. military has relaxed standards designed to weed out racist extremists. Large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis, skinheads and other white supremacists are now learning the art of warfare in the armed forces.

Department of Defense investigators estimate thousands of soldiers in the Army alone are involved in extremist or gang activity. "We've got Aryan Nations graffiti in Baghdad," said one investigator. "That's a problem."

Southern Poverty Law Center President Richard Cohen urged Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to adopt a zero-tolerance policy regarding racist extremism among members of the U.S. military.

"Because hate group membership and extremist activity are antithetical to the values and mission of our armed forces, we urge you to adopt a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to white supremacy in the military and to take all necessary steps to ensure that the policy is rigorously enforced," Cohen wrote in a letter to Rumsfeld.

Military extremists present an elevated threat both to their fellow soldiers and the general public. Today's white supremacists become tomorrow's domestic terrorists.

"Neo-Nazi groups and other extremists are joining the military in large numbers so they can get the best training in the world on weapons, combat tactics and explosives," said Mark Potok, director of the SPLC's Intelligence Project.

"We should consider this a major security threat, because these people are motivated by an ideology that calls for race war and revolution. Any one of them could turn out to be the next Timothy McVeigh."

New Apartment and stuff

Well I got my new apartment all set up and furnished. Got it all done for a fairly decent price considering that when I moved in all I brought from my old apartment aside from boxes of stuff was my bed and a computer desk. So now i have a fully set up 1 bedroom appartment. Yay for me. Here are some pictures my mom took when she came and helped me move which I realy apreciated, plus she loves any chance to come to Denver.

That is the outside, its a bit dark in the pick and its an older building but the price is nice and I love how quiet it is.

The kitchen is prety tiny as far as counter space but I have a nice new fridge and stove which has a lot of features im not usto, wish they had left me a manual. probably can find one on the web

here's my living room.

LTNS

It’s been awhile since I’ve updated my Blog. Am in the process of moving into an apartment, will be weird living on my own again, but will be good to have my own space and such. As far as news, I’ve still been reading it and still can feel my head threatening to break at some of the things I have read but there has also been articles and points that make me feel a little bit better about the country I live in and the people who are in it. I have to link to an article on Tom Tomorrow’s Blog, someone there was having fun with graphs comparing Nixon and bushes approval and disapproval ratings so click here if you want to see it. A lot of talk about the immigration debate has been going on all over the country and as well within my circle of friends and want to put my opinion out seeing as its my Blog and my place to release the tension between my ears like a pressure release valve. So I believe that if there is going to be immigration reform it should be in the form of enforcing laws already on the books making and making it illegal and have real repercussions if you hire someone who is here illegally, rent to someone who is here illegally or hide and harbor someone who is here illegally. I also believe that if anyone is discovered here illegally they are sent back. I also believe after all this is done and we have cut down on the amount of illegal people here we can probably make it a bit easier to become a legal citizen, I don’t know for sure but I bet part of why its so hard to become one that everyone complains about is because so many people are doing it illegally. I’m sure this is not a very popular opinion but most of the legislation I’m hearing from bush and his people who are pushing for the guest worker program make it sound more like there wanting to create a sub class of workers without the same rights to make it so that the rest of Americans have to work for even cheaper to compete with these now legal illegal workers. The cost of everything in this country has gone up from buying a home to the cost of food and rent and almost anything has gone up with inflation but if you look at the average pay rate, especially for lower paid people it has nowhere near grown in proportion that everything else has. Bush seems to want to do everything in his power to turn America into a country where your either lower class or higher class and destroy the middle class American. That way there will always be cheap labor to make him and his friends more money. This is bullshit and illegal immigrants are making this so much easier on him and making it a lot harder for the rest of us to survive. I come from a pretty small place where I know a lot of people doing the jobs that Bush says "Americans wont do" that illegal will do. And there are real Americans who will do it but bush really should have said that there are jobs that "Americans won't do because we wont pay them enough to live."

My wallet quivers with Fear!

So, haven’t had much to write about lately but I'm sure it will only be a few hours before I hear something on the radio or see something on a news site that will hurt my brain and I will need to begin the healing process by talking about it. I just have to mention that my car is on less than a quarter of a tank and I will have to buy gas soon. Oh, the horror. I drive a 1992 Toyota Camry. Its the luxury Edition and is all nice and comfy if you a midget but anyway... Why oh why would you give a 4 cylinder car a 19 gallon gas tank! Seriously, it might be even bigger but I have put over 18 gallons of gas in it before so its huge. What’s worse? I HAVE to put the good gas into it, if I put regular or mid grade, the car starts acting sluggish and "Pinging" as I was told. I almost wonder if someone put an aftermarket gas tank on it but either way I'm probably going to be paying around 3 dollars a gallon. Figuring ill probably put 16 gallons of gas in my car at where the gage is... $48.... OUCH! That's going to suck. Doesn’t help that I drive near 60 miles to and from work every day. I know its big news everywhere, and everyone seems to have a theory why its happening which is interesting because everyone including different news agencies have different opinions on why its so high. Unfortunately with all that I’m not even going to guess right now but most everyone in one way or another seems to be blaming oil companies and on the radio there is a lot of talk about gouging. I don’t know right now I’m still a bit too tired of the B.S. to wade around the bullshit on the web to try and find a cohesive answer. Maybe ill feel like it and post about what I find later.

Something I was bored and made:

60 miles Per day too and from work

x

5 times a week

+

30 miles on weekend (conservative estimate)

=

330 Miles per week

/

24 mpg (Average mileage since I filled my car last on my 4banger)

=

13.75 Gallons a week

x

$3 a gallon

=

41.25 dollars a week if prices stay the same, guess its not too bad as long as I don’t drive extra, glad I drive a small car.

Speaking of Pain in the Brain

I've been feeling kind of detached from the conservative world, now not saying that’s a bad thing but I was curious what there arguing points are and wanted to figure out how best to talk with people and to try and understand where there getting there view points. Most of my friends are pretty liberal on most subjects and most of the ones were conservative on we agree about. So ya I found out where not to look for the conservative rights thinking... The Internet.
It all started with thismodernworld.com bringing up Ann Coulter is putting out a new book. I’ve always considered this woman a joke and imagine she considers herself one as well but knows it will rake in the money. So I thought this would be an interesting thing to look at and see the comments on Amazon by readers and people who liked the book. Oh gods the things I found. Most of the posts were actually people making fun of the woman which didn't surprise me but then I found one that had 33 posts and had been there the longest, I made it about 3 comments the before the pressure in the front of my brain began. Now here is the post that someone made.

In the Republican Party, one distinguishes oneself as "godly" by attacking those who are allegedly "ungodly." This is especially effective if this "ungodly" individual supports gay rights, helping the poor, environmental protection, and/or a decent living wage for all.

Then it started...

Yes and in the Democratic Party one distinguishes oneself by, killing babies, spitting on soldiers, burning American flags and embracing such fine individuals as Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. I'm glad that there are people like yourself J.E. Bishop who fell obligated at a moments notice not only to judge others of different beliefs but to insult them as well. You could really help yourself if you bothered for a second to learn something about the party you so vehemently oppose instead of watching George Clooney movies and jumping on the bandwagon.

It continued on, going back and forth between liberals and conservatives after that but the responses from the conservatives just continued to cause the pain in the front of my head to grow and then I figured out what the pain was. It was the vacuum caused by there posts lack of intelligence and thought tugging on my brain trying to suck it through a tiny whole out into the dark abyss that was the void in there own brains like a space ship with a needle thin whole slowly having the life giving oxygen pulled out into the void of space.
I eventually stopped reading and decided I was going to pull a brain muscle if I kept it up, my ability to empathize with people usually being pretty strong could no were near help me wrap my brain around that at this moment. So I'm going to go back and try some less strenuous articles, maybe watch Fox News... We will have to see if I can handle that and then work my way up so that maybe if I run into one of the people who spout out nonsense like above I can actually have a conversation with them than rather walking up to them and poke them in the shoulder and saying "wow... you people really do exist... I just though you were anomalies online"

Boom

I don't know if anyone else gets this way but lately every now and then when I turn on Air America or even the News and gods forbid if I look at news web pages I begin to feel a pressure build. It starts right behind my eyes and gets stronger and stronger, and I know what this pressure is but I don’t know how best to describe it. It could be called outrage, horror, disbelief but what ever it is, I am wondering if I don’t get my tolerances up to deal with messed up things are my brain is going to explode like in a bad action movie. Or maybe ill just pop a fuse and my co workers or roommates will just hear a thump and see me lying on the floor my eyes dull and be sent to a home where I become one of those comatose people sitting in a chair staring out a window with a bib on to catch my drool.
I know it is a little early in my blog to say this but this is what runs through my brain some times. I just wonder how much one can take. I believe people can adapt and there bull crap tolerance can rise, I mean its been building and building so I know my tolerance has gone up for what I can take which is sad but it keeps me sane. I just cant imagine the year 1999 me showing up now like coming out of a coma and hopping on the computer and looking through all the news I’ve missed and reading the Blogs I do read. Well I can imagine it but it only ends in the scenario I mentioned above. And I can only imagine myself lasting till about 2002's news before it happens. I only really started to get interested and have access to the news around the 2000 election and not at the level I pay attention to it till 2002, I just wonder was there ever a time that this wouldn’t have been happening to me. I just have a hard time imagining how it was for all the people who have been involved in politics and watching the news and following what’s going on in our government for 10 years or more. I just wonder if the government has always been this messed up? Or is this just hitting the ridiculous point. I don’t know enough about how things work evidentially because I keep expecting after hearing these things that the president does or his cronies or some new fact we find out that something is changing.

I keep thinking tomorrow I’m going to hear how the senate and house stood up and called bullshit and are investigating. Or how huge numbers of people are marching around the capitol and demanding the president resign and its actually having an effect. I keep thinking this next new bit coming out is going to raise a huge public outcry and it’s going to be all over the news stations. And then I'm wrong, Bush gives a bullshit answer and a shrug and everyone just drops it. The news just drops it saying " ahh the shrug explains it all" and then treats anyone who still thinks that its still something we should be thinking about it on there shows like there just crazies. I hope my bullshit tolerance continues to go up because we still have awhile to go before this nightmare may end. I know this is a rehash sortof of a past post but I just realy didnt know what else to say right now.

I know I'm a geek... but I want this shirt! This is great

Thursday, April 06, 2006

Time for my first official blog post. I’m probably from now on mostly going to be talking about the news, partially because it drives me nuts a lot since I sit here at work and between calls read about it.
Ok, why haven’t we impeached Bush yet? I mean seriously now there has been so much evidence that this guy has broken this laws in so many ways and so many times. Here now there’s evidence he informed his vice presidents to have his aid leak confidential information, before that there was the fact he ADMITED he broke the law with his domestic spying policy when he could have easily gotten secret after the fact warrants but chose not to because he believed he has the right to break the law just to make things easier for him. If that wasn’t enough there is Downing Street memo, which completely got swept under the carpet by the media. If the media was really liberal then why weren’t they on that like white on rice. There is still information coming out about how Bush lied his way into this war and planned since he was elected to make up a reason to get back at Hussein for making his daddy look bad. Evidently the only way to get impeached in this country is to get a blowjob from an intern.
